SVQ 3 in Occupational Health and Safety
The Scottish Vocational Qualification (SVQ) 3 in Occupational Health and Safety at SCQF level 7 allows candidates to demonstrate competence in job-related skills in their particular area of work and expertise.
This qualification covers areas such as making sure your own actions reduce risks to health and safety, developing procedures to safely control work operations, safely controlling work operations, promoting a positive health and safety culture, and conducting a health and safety risk assessment of a workplace.
The SVQ 3 in Occupational Health and Safety consists of five mandatory Units and two optional Units.

- Develop Procedures to Safely Control Work Operations
- (H8VT 04)
- Safely Control Work Operations
- (H8VV 04)
- Promote a Positive Healthy and Safety Culture
- (H8VW 04)
- Conduct a Health and Safety Risk Assessment of a Workplace
- (H8VX 04)
- Optional – must Complete 2 Units from this Group
- Investigate and Evaluate Health and Safety Incidents and Complaints at Work
- (H8VY 04)
- Review Health and Safety Procedures at Workplaces other than Your Own
- (H8W0 04)
- Supervise the Health, Safety and Welfare of an Individual at Work
- (H8W1 04)
- Behavioural Safety in the Workplace
- (H8W2 04)
- Manage Contractors to Ensure Compliance with Health and Safety
- (H8V3 04)
- Develop and Implement the Health and Safety Induction Process
- (H8W4 04)
- Manage the Environmental and Social Impacts of Your Work
